Rebels' Rest Farm is the culmination of a dream beginning when John, as a boy, just knew that he wanted to be a "farmer" when he grew up. Well, as the old saying goes, "life's what happens while you're busy making plans". Several decades later he is now taking advantage of the opportunity of making his dream come true. And Tracey is the mechanism that made the dream come true for them both.
In 2004 they purchased their "forever home" place among the Arkansas Ozarks and began to develop their business plan for the farm.
The result of that development effort is Rebels Rest Farm, a Kiko meat goat breeding stock operation. Beginning with a herd of half Kiko doe crosses who were bred to Hemp's Pride 66, a 100% New Zealand Kiko buck, the quality of the offspring has confirmed to John and Tracey that the original plan was sound.

Some of our "mob" of 2006 kids, sired by Hemp's Pride 66; the first babies born at Rebels' Rest! The doelings in that '06 group became moms in 2008. |
That crop of babies resulted in the 3/4 Kiko bucklings having been impressive animals that found regional buyers taking them as quickly as they became of age. The AKGA registered 1/2 Kiko doelings remained on the farm to serve as future breeders as the Jeffers' continue their breeding stock development.
Acquiring a purebred Kiko buck in August 2006 from Dr. An Peischel's Goats Unlimited farm in Tennessee adds the dimension necessary to build on Rebels' Rest's early success. John and Tracey are excited about the genetics and hardy Kiko characteristics that Rebels' Rest's Partisan Ranger and the fullblood qualities of Hemp's Pride 66 both bring to future customers of their farm.
